Exotic motor cars up for grabs at Hamptons Auto Classic auction
Styled as a “boutique” auction offering a select number of carefully chosen lots, the Hamptons Auto Classic auction has always impressed collectors and classic car enthusiasts. The auction is in its 15th year and this time, there are some rare and much coveted classic motor cars on the block. The previews for these cars started on June 12 at Hayground School on Mitchell Lane in Bridgehampton and the Hamptons Auto Classic auction kicked off on June 13 at 12 noon. Highlighting the lots is a glorious 1962 Ferrari 250 PF II cabriolet, which is a multiple show winner and is expected to surpass its current value. Another car that will turn heads is the 1964 AC 289 Cobra. It’s the first upshot of an alliance between Carroll Shelby and the British AC company. Another highlight from the auction is a 1957 Corvette from the collection of Max Weinberg, the renowned drummer, who now leads the band on The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien. The Hamptons Auto Classic is the place to invest in Jaguars, Austin Healeys, Mercedes Benz and Porsches, a Bentley or two and some striking American masterpieces as well. Classic cars are fast-appreciating assets you can actually drive and enjoy.
