Fincantieri Yachts’ unveils 145m Fortissimo superyacht by Ken Freivokh Design
Italy’s largest yacht maker, Ficantieri, has taken its status rather literally, and seems to be in the race for creating the largest yachts in the world. Very recently, we showed you the Serene mega-yacht which was 440 feet in length and is the 9th largest yacht in the world, and now surpassing that is the 145m (476 feet) long Fortissimo yacht, which will have all capabilities of a speed boat, reaching up to 35 knots of speed! Also, launching alongside is the Virage 88 yacht, which is yet to materialize on finer aspects of its design.
The Fortissimo is truly a fort-on-waters if one looks at it. All credits go to Ken Freivokh Design. With a 476 long hull and 8 decks in totality, it figures amongst the largest and also the heaviest in body weight (7000 tones approx.) than there are in the league. Powered by propulsion diesel engines, this will generate 70,000 KW of total displacement aided by the 4 water-jets which would be rather essential considering the dimensions. The cruising speed is supposed to be around the 18 knots mark, though it can top 35 knots if pushed as hard.
For the owner of the yacht, there is space for 8 guests in all, along with 48 crew members who would have their space in their own quarters. With 8 separate decks, the amenities could be multiple including spas, gymnasium, the obvious luxury suites, cinema and theatre, bars and dining, lounge, etc. Though recently unveiled, it is yet to be seen gliding in the waters, hence we might be held back on details of this mega-yacht. However, we also know that there is a sister yacht, the Virage 88 (pictured above) which is still at the conception stage. From the external designs revealed, it is too going to be a modern vessel but not sure if it will match the magnum opus status of the Fortissimo.
