Flexo Arquitectura, the Barcelona-based architectural firm founded by ETSAB graduated architects named Tomeu Ramis Frontera, Aixa del Rey García and Bárbara Vich Arrom, has now created an innovative architecture that impressively accommodates the separation of winter and summer. Sited atop a breathtaking slope in the popular touristic seafront area of cala d’or, in Spanish island of Mallorca, this architectural masterpiece impressively opens to stunning garden patios and breathtaking beach views. And in keeping with the region's unrivaled aesthetics, the architects at Flexo Arquitectura created a packed white volume which has been pierced by a total of 4 programmed terraces. Further, the voids in this newly created home offers optimal sun exposure and ample amount of cross ventilation, in addition to specific spaces for meticulously maintained playgrounds, greenery, breezeways, and comfortable lounging.
The home’s basement floor features a spacious living area and a high-tech kitchen facility in the outdoors, as well as a number of impressive ‘summer rooms’ which are linked to the pool.
Further, the 1st and 2nd floors are accredited the ‘winter house’ for they are linked by staircases on the inside, and are impressively organized around a bamboo skin wrapped large bay balcony.
Besides offering incredible wide-spanning views of the famous harbor, the portico also offers privacy from the neighborhood.
Speaking about the construction, a simple slab-on-grade construction belies the ease and elegance of the innovative dual programs which has been woven together by careful circulation.
