Grasswood turns bamboo into handcrafted Macbook Pro cases

In past we have seen the Apple iPhone and iPod cases being crafted with various precious fabrics such as leather, gold, crystals and many other such styles. However, we have told you about a few designer cases for the Mac book Air as well, which includes the Vaja leather casing, and also the Gold-plated Macbook, which were given a precious make over. But using high quality bamboo wood for the first time has occurred with the Grasswood Macbook Pro covers. Handcrafted and fabricated to perfection, each of these covers further brightens the chances of being ultra-sophisticated with your laptop.

In today’s age when the exotic variety of fabrics becomes increasingly rare, especially the woods, bamboo provides a very sustainable and feasible designer option. With a span of 3 to 4 months, a bamboo tree rises to full height, which can then be cut down for various uses, which in this case has become the cover for the Macbook Pro. Grasswood has taken a single solid sheet of bamboo; hand carved each casing into shape, and then burnished and oiled them to ready the fabric for the perfect finishing and high quality built. But this too involves further intricacies, including manual application of tung oil, along with a double coating of polyurethane which strengthens the fiber from the inside. Then great care is taken to manually create the woolen fabrication of the casings interiors, and also the leather strap outside, which too undergo similar levels of detailed treatments. The strapping also serves as a locking system for the case, making it easy to carry and also great to look at.

The pricing hasn’t been put out by the company as yet, but expect to get word after their 2nd product launch on the 12th of February, 2012, which happens to be a bamboo wood iPad casing. But on a short note, these casings for the Macbook certainly seem to be handsome, easy to carry, and certainly tough as well.
