The Hobbit and Dark Knight memorabilia to debut at Toy fair
Amongst the many collectible items we see in our horizon, designer toys seem to be emerging as the next alternative for specialist collectors. In what promises to be a complete bonanza for toy collectors, in a couple of weeks time, The New York City Toy Fair goes underway in the American metropolis, with certain items from the ‘Dark Knight and ‘the Hobbit’ (successor to the Lord of the Rings trilogy) movie franchisee, which would perhaps grab the greatest number of eyeballs at the event. They would include the Noble Collection Batman chess set, and also the Lord of the Rings 10K solid gold ring (pictured below), apart from various action figures from popular characters like Batman and Catwoman.
A few years back, when Lord of the Rings came on the scene as a set of 3 movies, it made history by breaking all records for collections at the box office, as well as winning awards in various categories at the Oscars. Looking at that recent a legacy, and the reviews it generated, it will be safe to assume the interest that will gather around the memorabilia of the movie, which in this case is the 10K solid yellow gold ring, having the same engraving as shown in the movie. In what looks like an equally aesthetic packaging of the red box with silver detailing, the ring will also generate eye balls for the upcoming movie, ‘The Hobbit’ which is based on the Lo rod the Rings trilogy. There is however no official word on the pricing or number of units of this special ring.
The next head-turner at the event would be this $595 Batman chess set, which immortalizes the ever popular franchisee with its own set of action figures instead of the regular chess pieces. Made with die metal, each figure and also the main chess board, has been given a special finish by coating it in fine pewter. Structured like a box unit, there are 50 small LED lights below, which illuminate the symbol for batman, on the sides which have also been detailed with the various famous buildings of Gotham City. But unlike the regular chess board, each side measures 20-inches in length to add a different aura to the chess set.
Apart from this, there will be several action figures (pictured above) from The Dark Knight franchisee, which is set to release its new movie, ‘The Dark Knight rises’, along with Pop Heroes’ Catwoman, Bane, and Batman vinyl action figures. A few of them will even be common for figures by Whacky Wobbler, which we guess has taken an upper hand with the detailing. However, for other such premium toy collections, we would suggest going through the world’s most comprehensive toy collection, or the million dollar Malcom’s toy collection, both of which define the craftsmanship that can go into making collector toys.
