Since Ferrari's heroics for it's heavy duty engines is well known throughout the world, the accessory dedicated to it had to sport something equally powerful in it's essence to match up. Hence, the 50-day power reserve which has become the main focus of the timepiece, as it also becomes a world record for hand wound tourbillon watch. This movement was known to have been developed in-house, specifically for this watch and each of them were made in-house to ensure that the quality standards are met at all times. The reference number of this unique movement happens to be 905.ND.0001.RX, the credit of which happens to go to the Hublot team, who worked with Ferrari to custom make it for them.
The watch by itself is made from a Black PVD coated titanium, which forms the front and rear open casing, covered by a specially crafted Sapphire crystal covering, also found in the LaFerrari car. The time is displayed by the interplaying movements of the 3 aluminum cylinders which have the hour, minute and seconds functions. Also the monumental power reserve is indicated by a separate cylinder in the dial. For a better long lasting effect, the cylinders have been given an anodized treatment for better function. The vibration rate for the core tourbillon movement is 21,600 vibrations/hour, and it comprises of 637 components in all. 108 of these are jewels, each picked specifically for the MP-05 LaFerrari watch.
