Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8
The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 was introduced at the 2011 New York Auto Show by Chrysler. With its race-inspired interior, benchmark-setting braking creds, world-class handling and ride and performance-specific styling, the new Jeep immediately captured the world’s attention with its big and rugged appearance. The model tries to be more 2012-ready with innovative advanced technology, refinement and luxury while delivering world-class performance as well as retaining the classic Jeep utility and capability. Delivering a combination of utility and 4-wheel-drive traction, the model uses the same powertrain as used in its sibling, the Chrysler 300 SRT8 and runs on a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine. The powertrain delivers a peak torque of 465 pounds-per-feet and an estimated 465 bhp. The top speed of the model is estimated to be around 155 mph and the model accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds flat.
The cabin of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is undoubtedly influenced by racing technology and comes geared with driving experience enhancing features like new contoured palm rests on either side of the paddle-shift controls. The SRT logo is also displayed proudly all around the race-inspired cockpit that comes with an all-new heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The cabin is also quite pleasurable for the passengers with the two front seats boasting of contrast stitching accents, embroidered SRT logos on adjustable headrests and sculpted bolsters that make the suede and Nappa leather SRT-styled SUV-spec seats even comfier. The front seats come with an additional ventilation feature and all the seats in the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 are heated to maximum passenger comfort through the cabin. Inside the cabin, the high-performance look is achieved via new racing-style bright pedals and brake pads and integrated Carbon fiber accents in the door trim panels and the instrument panel.
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 bears a whole lot of stylistic changes on the outside and comes with chrome bezel inserts on an exclusive black screen background on the body-colored front grille. New multi-function LED daytime running lamps complement the upgraded front fascia while added engine cooling is provided by dual black functional heat extractors sitting proudly on the newly sculpted hood. At the rear, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 accommodates an access cover and trailer receiver with a separate air diffuser that helps the new lift gate spoiler get better downforce and trim down drag. With a ride height lowered by one inch, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 sports Pirelli PZero P295/45ZR20 run-flat tires wrapped around 20-inch forged aluminum wheels that add a nice luster to the model’s exterior along with shiny new 4-inch exhaust tips on the model’s dual-sport exhaust system.
