Among the many people and noted art collectors including Hedge-fund magnate Steven A. Cohen who believes that Jeff Koons is one of the world’s most famous living artist acclaimed for his appreciation of American kitsch, and his reproductions of banal objects like the giant, shiny Balloon animal sculptures made of stainless steel, Baroque Egg, Pink Panther sculpture, Blue Diamond and Hot Pink Heart, the Wynn Resorts Chairman and CEO Steve Wynn is also the one. This Casino magnate and bona fide art collector known for his extensive collection of modern and contemporary art which can be found at his current and former resorts, has recently acquired Jeff Koons’ Celebration series sculpture ‘Tulips’ for $33,682,500. And as part of the Steve Wynn owned resort’s continued commitment towards the appreciation of public art, Wynn Las Vegas for the delight of its discerning guests has unveiled Jeff Koons’ Tulips, which comes rendered in mirror-polished finest quality stainless steel and transparent color coating will illuminate and grace the Wynn Theater rotunda.
Described to be one of the most complex and largest sculptures in the Celebration series which explores the concept of child-like innocence, the Koons’ Tulips created in 5 unique versions impressively represents a bouquet of twisted balloon flowers.
Further, the sculpture’s gleaming surface and vivid color palette reflect both the viewer and itself, resulting in a kaleidoscope of color and near infinite reflections. Notably, the Tulip creates the sensation of weightlessness but is paradoxically heavy, employing more than 3 tons of meticulously sculpted stainless steel.
