In the contemporary world of literature the global and phenomenal success of Joanne Kathleen Rowling is still unmatched. Despite the success of other fictional authors like Stephanie Meyer, Rowling's works continue to mesmerize millions of readers around the globe. What makes Joanne so popular to millions of households aside from being the author of the world wide best seller Harry Potter series? Unknown to many readers and fans of Rowling is her rags to riches story, from being a bi-lingual researcher and doing secretarial works in various institutions, her ordinary life has changed to the status of being a multi millionaire in just a span of five years after releasing the first adventure of Harry Potter.  J K Rowling is now one of the richest women in the world & was awarded as the 'Most Influential Woman in Britain' in October 2010. Jo as she calls herself is a woman of great aspirations. She has written short stories like the Rabbit when she was only five to six years old. Her first love is writing, and no other thing is so precious to her than her daughter, her sister Dianne and the career that brought her to where she is now. Rejection and failure, humiliation and determination to succeed is synonymous to a writer's life, even classic authors like Charles Dickens suffered from traumatic rejection of their manuscripts; however this degrading act did not become an hindrance to their ambitions.  Although Joanne 'Jo' Rowling considered herself as a failure-as she had failed her marriage, experienced many rejections from publishers and was a jobless mother- the insatiable desire of pursuing the only thing she believed she belong to kept her spirits alive, and brought her to international fame.   Being the first English novelist billionaire Rowling earned her as one of the richest female on earth. Her book Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone garnered million copies sold in America alone, which was followed by Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in July 1998. These two books followed by Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban won her Smarties Prize three consecutive times, a record set by a female writer.  Upon making the world famous character of Harry Potter into film, it was a dream come true for millions of its fans. They can fantasize about their favorite lead characters as if they were all real wizards and witches in the muggle world.   In 2001 Rowling purchased the Kilichassie House, a 19th century inspired mansion located on the River Tay banks. Although Joanne was the first writer billionaire in America, her precious treasures are slowly cutting into millions. This can be attributed to her charitable activities in various charities and foundations, helping people in her previous status of being unemployed citizen. She doesn't want other people who experience the fatal event in life she also did experienced to devour them in total defeat. It is proven that Joanne Rowling has this very soft side towards people who have less in life. Aside from spending and investing her money on her children she also pays too high taxes according to a resource. In 2010 she also co-founded the Lumos institution; the Voltant Trust was also established by the world famous author in memory of her deceased mother.   While taking good care of her daughter when her first marriage failed, she simultaneously kept on writing until one when the train trip she was waiting for was delayed, it naturally came to her mind to write about the character of Harry Potter- a wizard who is raised in the muggle world or world of human beings with no special powers and ability.  Fate is very friendly to Joanne, sometime after finishing her manuscript the Scottish Arts Council liked her work and was very impressed on it. But the publishing industry would still be a block on her way to having her first work printed, the publishers whom she sent the manuscript was continually rejected. The phenomenal series of Harry Potter that conquered the world and was translated into many different languages was rejected many times. Until in 1997 the book finally was printed and released with a budget of $4000, it was the time when the idea of using Rowling's initials was conceived. The publishers were afraid that boys wouldn't buy books written originally by a woman. How wrong they were!!
