Kate Moss has done it again! After the nude gold statue of the super model nude picture, both of which sold for record prices, another Kate Moss piece, a naked portrait this time, goes under the hammer at Bonham’s. The beautiful portrait, sketched to perfection by Norwegian artist Solve Sundsbo will be offered for sale as part of Bonhams photographs auction on 17th May 2012. The leading auction house had reportedly hosted a similar exhibition cum sale in November 2011. A nude picture of Moss clicked by Albert Watson featured prime in the list of photographs which included, among others, those of Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe as well.
Donated by the supermodel herself, the picture shows her wearing glittery low waist trousers underneath a naked upper half which has Moss’s lean hands strewn across. The photograph will be among eleven lots to be sold to raise money for NSPCC and its Rebuilding Childhoods Appeal.
The auction, say sources, has already received warm response from private collectors and photographers alike. Hence, rest assured we can expect a series of mesmerizing photographs and portraits glamming up the Bonhams auction this May. The major highlights include Patrick Dermarchelier’s famous 1986 image of Christy Turlington and the playful shot of Sean Connery and Brigitte Bardot.
Visitors at the Bonham’s auction will also get ogle at different show stopping celebrity portraits, like that of Florence Welch’s by an Israeli photographer, Celia Hammond’s by Terence Donovan, designer Valentino’s by Martin Schoeller, or Oliver Reed’s by Alistair Morrison. Collectors will also be delighted to know that the exhibit, among other things, will feature Miles Aldridge’s sophisticated lady and an extremely intimate shot from Rankin’s Snog series.
Bonhams authorities looked seemingly excited about the latest event. “We are delighted to be working with the NSPCC to offer this exciting group of photographs for auction and to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause”, said Jocelyn Philips, head of photographs at Bonhams.
Coming back to Kate Moss, the lady, it seems is game for all things even remotely associated with the word “charity”. After the nude photographs of hers, auctioned for charity at Bonhams last year, or the famous “fund raising” lip-lock with Hosh Ibrahim in 2010, the latest step by lady, we hope, finds its due destination.
