La Leopolda becomes world’s most expensive house at $500 million
Often on the street I’ve seen people shake a set of keys with a big smile on their face implying ‘I’ve got a place of mine.’ Be it a small urban burrow or spacious mansion spread over large green acres, it’s a matter of pride to have a concrete roof over your head. But what if you are the owner of world’s most expensive home? The adjective ‘pride’ will be a much subtler expression to describe his feelings. Same is the case for Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich. Footing $500 million for La Leopolda, it has become the world’s most expensive house. Owner of Chelsea Football Club, Roman recently picked up the majestic hilltop villa overlooking the French Riviera after falling in love with it during a private viewing along with his girlfriend Daria Zhukova. The villa is not only known to have the best sea views in the south of France, but it also sits on 10 acres of immaculate grounds that run right down to the resort of Villefranche. Originally built for Belgian king Leopolds mistresses, this house has been a den of big shots like late banking magnate Edmund Safra, Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Fiat tycoon Gianni Agnelli.
