Lamborghini launched a super race car in 1994, and it was easily the best sports car in the Lamborghini range that ran staggering figures in performance. Labelled SE30, this was a special edition brought out to celebrate the 30th anniversary. Wearing a special color of purple, unknown to be used in any car, this car looked sleek and dashing with low fenders and air intakes positioned in the sides and the roof. A lot of flab was done away with using synthetic glass for windows, carbon fiber and aluminum body panels, carbon fiber seats, magnesium manifolds and deleted air-conditioning, audio system and power steering. This made this race car perform with staggering figures. It pumped out 525 bhp at 7000 rpm and 0 - 100 kms in 4 secs. The price tag it bore was a hefty $206,000. Only 150 cars were produced of which 15 were fitted with the Jota system that produced an ear-splitting roar suited for race tracks.
The sporty interior carries carbon fiber light seats finished in Alcantara leather. The dashboard is upright with just the bare necessities. There is no air-conditioning or audio system, just a red button that activates the fire extinguisher in case the engine gets too hot. The central console looks neat and elegant with a dozen push buttons, white dials and finished with alcantara and carbon fiber. It also has controls for the anti roll bars that adjust the stiffness. The steering wheel is small and wears the manufacturer's badge, with a flattened base for convenience. Stylish air intakes keep the temperature inside the cabin comfortable.
This stunning model has exotic features right from the sweeping curves of its sides with numerous air vents, the finned sloping rear, the sweeping windows and doors giving it the look of a spaceship. The wheels are designed with five shaped cut outs and rims made of a special magnesium compound. The all new huge 18" wheels are fitted with Pirelli P Zero tires. The front spoiler is redesigned to make it bigger and deeper to counter balance the turbulence and also sports a stylish horizontal grill in the middle. The rear spoiler is fitted with fog lights and back-up lights and a grill bearing the Lamborghini insignia of the raging bull and '30' standing for the anniversary production.
