Lamborghini Murcielago LP640

The legend of the name Murcielago goes back to 1879 when a bull by that name survived 24 sword strokes of a champion matador and fought on. The bull was released to freedom and has been honored by lending its name to one of the most powerful and sporty cars of modern times. This is a two-seat, two-door sports car that was produced by Lamborghini between 2001 and 2010. This flagship model was the worthy successor of the Diablo and is the first new model created by the new parent company - Audi. Luc Donckerwolke, the head of design for Lamborghini styled this super car which sells for a base price of $330,000. About 4000 cars were produced before it was replaced by another supercar - the Aventador - at the Geneva Motor Show, 2011.

A lot of work has gone into making the interiors spacious and luxurious. Ample headroom and legroom is a distinguishing feature of this super car. The dashboard is modern and updated with a new stereo system that plays files in different formats. The large and bold instrument panel has been fitted with amazing lighting to enhance the sports feel of the cockpit. Like any other luxury car, there are seat belts, air bags and a climate control system in-built. The space between the two seats is broad and large so that both the occupants can place their hands comfortably. The upholstery is posh and plush and the LCD display along with all the control buttons blends well along with it.

When one looks at the styling and exteriors of the LP 640, it reminds one of the Diablo with a little facelift. This little tinkering has apparently made a world of a difference for the car. The rear and front fascias have been modified. A gently sloping front culminates in large and flattened headlamps. Bumpers have been added to both the rear and the front. The slope of the car almost continues in one single flow from the roof to the registration plate in the front and the tail lamps at the rear. The rear diffuser sports a single-outlet exhaust system. The rear spoiler and the side windows can be changed and raised in order to improve the aerodynamics of the car when it zips at top speeds. The doors open upward like wings of a wasp. A special feature available on request is a transparent hood with which one can flaunt the powerful V12 engine.
