The London-based design and innovation company Seymourpowell has gone right into the future with their lighter-than-air vehicle concept. This giant “clipper in the clouds” airship called “Aircruise” is here to embark on a new era in luxury travel with its capability to harness solar power along with a primary hydrogen fuel cell drive to cruise at 90mph, leaving no carbon footprint behind. The concept that blends a cruise ship and a floating hotel would move 100 people from London to New York in 37 hours or from Los Angeles to Shanghai in under four days in utmost luxury. Equipped with four duplex apartments and five smaller apartments together with penthouse apartment and bar/lounge/communal zones, the Aircruise can also drop down within a few hundred feet of the ground while en route. Offering mesmerizing views from the sky through its dizzying glass-viewing floors, the 30-meter-high Aircruise would integrate modular self-sealing lifting bags to ensure a safe flight, even with a major external skin tear. While the concept demands advances in materials and clean propulsion technologies along with a huge investment, whenever this concept meets reality, this for sure is going to be nominated for the most significant technological innovation.
