Romaine Jerome, a name synonymous with unique watchmaking with varied thematic designs, has introduced its latest limited edition Space Invader series of watches. Bringing the classic video alive through these watches, there will be two varieties of them in different layouts to commemorate the year of the introduction of the iconic video game.
The watches will be available in two primary designs: a black and white glow in the dark version, and a colorful version with the same characters of the game fixed onto the dial of the watch. The timepieces' unique feature is the detailed structure that has 78 different parts put together to make a complete watch, to commemorate the year of introduction of the Space Invaders game, i.e.
1978. Other features of the unique watches are a 46mm PVD coated stainless steel case, the automatic mechanical movement
mechanism and special black rubber strap. Also to be noted is that the dials, which comprise of the various characters of the game, are hand applied individually before being machined together in perfect cohesion.
These timepieces were the result of a deal between the designer brand Romain Jerome and the TAITO Corporation, which first introduced
the video game during the latter half of the 1970s. During the '80s, this game turned into a rage and had a very popular following, because it was also the first specialized application for video gaming consoles, and as the CEO of Romain Jerome would testify, many grew up with the addiction. Now, in joint association TAITO Corporation, this game has been brought alive in the form of these limited edition timepieces, for which the estimated price is expected to be in the range of $10,000-15,000.
The other unique and exclusive timepieces from Romain Jerome, include Titanic based luxury watch range and also the Skeleton timepiece .
