Limited edition TAG Heuer Indy 500 Centennial chronograph
Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. TAG Heuer has given some of the most exceptional timepieces used for competitive sports, and they were the first to master luxury chronographs with a supreme precision of 1/10th, 1/100th and 1/1,000th of a second. Now, to mark the milestone of mastering speed and celebrate the 100th anniversary of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” Tag Heuer has unveiled the official watch of the Indy 500 – the TAG Heuer Limited Edition Indy 500 Centennial Chronograph.
The limited edition chronograph has a gray styled dial, which boasts a pattern inspired by the famed “Yard of Bricks” start/finish line of the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There is a printed INDY 500 logo inside the counter at 6 o’clock. The watch’s 44 mm dial draws inspiration from a racecar’s dashboard, and features a small second at 3 o’clock, a chronograph minutes counter with double hands at 9 o’clock and a 1/10th of second counter at 6 o’clock.
Other highlights include a fixed polished bezel with a tachymeter scale in black and a fine-brushed steel case with scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The commemorative chronograph will be presented to the winner of the Indy 500 on May 29, 2011. Available with either black rubber strap or polished steel bracelet, the Indy 500 Centennial Chronograph is priced at about $1,650. Only 100 pieces are up for grabs.
