A good friend of Nicholson, Lou Adler is an American record producer, director and manager. Born in a Jewish/Mexican family in 1933 Chicago, Illinois, Adler was raised in East Los Angeles. He founded the Dunhill Records in 1964 and worked as its President and the chief record producer for three years. Later he founded several record companies and played a key role in the careers of Jan and Dean, and Mamas and the Papas. A major playboy in his time, Adler has been romantically linked to a number of celebrity women including singer-actress Michelle Phillips, singer-artist Jill Gibson, movie actress Britt Ekland and actress Tina Sinatra. The legendary artist married twice and has seven children.
