Deep Flight Challenger
This submarine was built as an experimental model which Steve Fossett had created, but couldn’t go on the adventure trip himself, due to his untimely death. He was set to attempt the world record for the deepest solo dive at 37,000 feet below sea level, but couldn’t attempt so. This watercraft has amenities to support 24 hours of life without contact with external source of air and has an endurance to go to an ocean’s full depth and back on surface within 5 hours, going up or down at a rate of 350 feet per minute at 45 degrees angle. The submarine had the capacity for a single passenger, as the dive was meant to be taken alone.
This submarine had to be great one in concept and design, as it had director James Cameron working together to make this submarine a reality, where the services will be launched commercially with fulfilling his childhood dream of exploring the waters below the sea. The submarine is known to have capabilities go to go at depths of more than 300 meters, with ultra thick carbon fibre walls, and also artificial atmospheric pressure gadgets due to which the possible 3 passengers do not feel any change in pressure inside the watercraft. James Cameron has already set aside $8 million for using for this particular trip to the Kermadec Tonga Rench located north of New Zealand.
As the name suggests, this venture of underwater tour was launched by Sir Richard Branson who is known for his extravagant style, and the demand for exploring opportunities never done so by man before. He is already on verge of making space tourism a reality, and now it’s the very deepest waters, where man is never known to have gone before, including the deepest portion of the Marina Trench, which goes approximately 11 kilometers straight down. For this reason, the major part of this airline resembling submarine will have carbon fiber and platinum to create the crust which will bear the highest possible atmospheric pressures known. Other zones aimed at by Sir Branson include the Puerto Rico Trench, Diamantina Trench, South Sandwich trench and the Molloy Deep, with the Puerto Rico trench to be piloted himself.
