UK-based Dixon Yacht & Ken Freivokh Design presented their latest creation, the Mantis 80 luxury yacht, at the recently concluded Monaco Yacht Show 2011. The event which had 500 yacht makers from around the world, under the patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, took notice of the Mantis 80, for the sheer brilliance with which elegance, sophistication, and modern design have been given common ground.

As the name of the yacht suggests, this is a 80 meter vessel with its rear end opening up as the primary deck, and space for open air socializing, whereas the front end is more of a closed area, specially on this lower deck. It will also have most of the common area such as the indoor living room, dining and some of the guest suites. There will be bars in the open and the interiors as well. Also, if one is looking to indulge in swimming in the ocean, or some adventure water sports, the entrance cum sitting area shall be perfect. The upper deck will have the private VIP suite which will be placed right next to the yacht’s swimming pool and larger sun deck. This VIP suite has been given its private balcony for the owner/host to enjoy nature outside privately.

Speaking about the interiors, there is little one can do to miss the white modern, yet minimalistic theme of décor. The white leather sofas and walls leave little color to be seen, except of the wooden flooring and some part of the dining furniture. The sliding glass wall doors and windows, add to the futuristic flavor of the yacht along with the soft shapes of the furniture we just described. The upper deck is connected by the spiral staircase which has a similar color theme and rest of the décor.

Other concepts which got highlighted at the Monaco Yacht Show this year included the likes of Thierry Mugler super boat, Oronero Tender yacht, and the Proxima concept yacht. When you compare these to the Mantis 80, you may notice the sharp contrast in ‘jazzed up’ theme of these other yachts. Since a lot remains to be done when final production begins, this boat shall offer plenty for further customization, or simply be vessel where closed corporate get-togethers can be arranged.
