Marcello Pozzi’s Stack 50 table is one for the geeks

Andrea Divirgilio / September 6, 2012

The lead designer for the Okada restaurant at the Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas and Macau, the acclaimed Italian architect and designer who learned to see beauty in simplicity, Marcello Pozzi has now designed his very first mass-produced furniture piece for the home décor. Dubbed as the Stack 50 Table, this sculptural table composed of 50 individual disks of plywood, was actually commissioned by Restoration Hardware, a luxury home furnishing brand which operate as a curator of the finest historical design the world has to offer. Finished in matte brown high-quality phenolic resin with sanded plywood edges, this made in Italy 48-inches wide table is crafted of 50 plywood disks stacked together on a metal rod in a way to form an asymmetrical silhouette defying gravity.

Stacked on a steel rod, the 50 fixed disks are held by two steel plates, and the top disk ‘table-top’ comes inset with number 50, in stainless steel.

Costing $2,495, this sculptural Stack 5 Table designed by Marcello Pozzi, has been crafted by the most skilled furniture builder the designer knew, which includes his father and uncles in the factory where it all began.

Also, we have earlier seen the Timothy Oulton’s Aviator Chair which draws inspiration from bomber planes and was exclusively available at Restoration Hardware.
