Maserati 3200 GT

Maserati regained its stature with the production of the 3200 GT series launched at the Paris Motor Show, the model being sold mostly in European countries and not brought to North America till the 4200 series was designed and produced. The four seater luxury coupe with handsome interiors was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of the Merak, Quattroporte III and Bora fame. The assembly line was completely revamped and modernized to meet the international standards of automobiles, and the 3200 GT was the first to roll off the assembly line. 4795 vehicles were produced and two of them were used for a promo tour across Canada to get a peak of the future models, the 4200 series. Sold at $77,000 the 3200 GT was pretty affordable and the jet set also had a sportier configuration as an option.

The interior space in GT was ample. A central console of electronic controls was also provided. A 5.8" display in color set in the console has controls for the stereo system, trip computer and climate control. The instruments are chrome trimmed and include a white faced analog clock. The interior speaks volumes of it being italian with the butter soft leather seats, edged with contrasting piping, that can be adjusted electrically, Even the roof is made of ribbed leather. The rear individual seats are well spaced out and very comfortable.

This is a four seater, two door coupe launched before the Maserati Coupe. This long and sporty looking car has an extensive, beaky, sloping front with a narrow 'D' shaped grill and attractive air vents. The wheelbase is104.7", a centimeter longer than the Quattroporte iv. The taillights are in a unique curved boomerang shape. Brembo four wheel disc brakes offered excellent stopping power. The option of a sportier configuration model had 15 spoke alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli Zero Corsa soft tires and improved braking pads. The chassis featured an excellent steel Monocoque construction. With the Maserati personalization program, the car could be painted in any color of the customers choice apart from the available14 standard colors.
