Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary is aimed at car collectors with a passion for motor racing

Andrea Divirgilio / October 9, 2012

Aimed at car collectors with a particular inclination for extreme motor racing, here’s the exclusively new SLS AMG GT3 ‘45th ANNIVERSARY’, a limited-edition customer sports racing car presented by Mercedes-AMG. Being built by hand in an ultra-limited edition of just 5 vehicles in Affalterbach, this exclusive collector’s item has been especially unveiled to mark the 45th birthday. And, like the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG 45th Anniversary edition which was earlier unveiled at the New York International Auto Show 2012 to mark 45th birthday of AMG, which was founded back in 1967 as a racing engine forge, the body of the SLS AMG GT3 ‘45th ANNIVERSARY’ glimmers auspiciously in an exclusive ‘design magno graphite matt’ paint finish.

Notably, AMG’s brand ambassador and the three-times record DTM champion Bernd Schneider is also involved hands-on in the production process of SLS AMG GT3 ‘45th ANNIVERSARY’, installing the AMG 6.3 litre V8 engine in the vehicle, together with an AMG engine fitter.

Also, the AMG light-alloy wheels in ‘designo magno graphite’ perfectly complements the SLS AMG GT3 ‘45th ANNIVERSARY’ body’s matt finish, while the striking “45 Years of Driving Performance” logo framed in silver on the vehicle’s gullwing doors, is sufficient to catch the attention of the onlookers.

Further, the vehicle’s interiors which actually matches the exterior evokes a functional racing car atmosphere. However, special six-point seat belts and an ultra-sporty steering wheel spider which gleams in silver produce effective contrasts.

Additionally, a special badge with a ‘1 to 4’ logo on the center consoles and seats speaks about the $578,250 car’s limited production.
