Michael Jackson’s original Thriller Jacket up for auction
The renowned jacket of legendary King of Pop Michael Jackson is in vogue since the time his very famous ‘Thriller’ video was released in 1983. The iconic red and black Thriller jacket, which is one of the two jackets that Jackson wore in the video, is now going under the hammer. The Thriller jacket is featured in a music memorabilia auction, which will take place on June 25 and 26 in Beverly Hills.
According to Julien’s Auction Gallery, the legendary jacket was given to him by the well known costume designers Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush and it is said that King of Pop use to wear it on every Thriller concert. The inside lining of the jacket is inscribed by a message from the designer, which reads To Bush and Dennis, All My Love, Michael Jackson, with the sleeve also signed Love Michael Jackson. The gallery expects the jacket to fetch between $200,000 and $400,000, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Shambala Preserve where Jackson’s Bengal tiger Thriller and Sabu are living since 2006.
Recently, MJ’s extravagant furniture was auctioned for around $700,000. Jackson always lived like a King and even when he died, he was laid to rest in a $25,000, solid bronze, 14-karat gold plated custom casket that was commissioned from Batesville Casket Company. The starting bid for the MJ’s ‘Thriller’ jacket sits at $100,000.
