The boxer turned actor, Mickey Rourke, is not exactly at the zenith of his career. And instead of flying high and taking a financial plunge, he decided to downsize according to his finances. Doing away with his lavish, 5,000 square-foot home, he has taken up an apartment in Manhattan. It is reported that the actor would be paying $13,500 a month which is $6,300 cheaper than his former home.
Location: The apartment is located in West Village which is part of the New York borough, Manhattan.
Accommodation: The new apartment is slightly larger than 2,500 square feet but it is well designed and furnished. It has three bedrooms and an equal number of attached bathrooms. The house will definitely provide sufficient living space for the actor and his little chihuahuas.
Features: The house by itself may not be very large but it is located in the much sought-after West Village. The living room is large and has a wonderful fireplace. Overall, the house is definitely homely. There is also a little garden just outside the house which provides space for an outdoor sit-out and eat-out for 4 people. The kitchen is extremely modest by celebrity-standards but it is extremely functional too.
Neighborhood: The West Village neighborhood is plush and highly sought by celebrities galore. Some of the notable residents include Jenifer Aniston, Daniel Radcliffe, Graydon Carter, Liv Tyler and Julianne Moore.

The boxer-actor, Mockey Rourke chose this luxury coupe for himself as he was seen getting into it along with Anastassija Makarenko in Los Angeles. Mickey Rourke's large heart has made him an avid and strong supporter of the Children's Hospital at Los Angeles. The hospital is actually a large research center too with pediatric and academic excellence. It provides to nearly 100,000 children on an annual basis.
Animal Shelter
There are many who have large wallets and many who have large hearts. But only a few possess both and Mickey Rourke is definitely one of them! It was while shooting his Dead in Tombstone in Romania that he came to know of the plight of the huge population of Romanian strays. Instantly he decided on building a dog-shelter, the size of a football field needing at least € 1.5 million. And he contributed the first $250,000 himself! The dogs of Bucharest have Foxy, the stray, to thank for it wandered into the movie sets triggering the sympathy and action from the actor. He has already inducted vets, Simon Corneleu and Mircea Zeta into the team and plans to visit Romania regularly to oversee the project.

American actor Mickey Rourke's beloved and faithful canine companion, a Chihuahua named Loki spent her final moments in the arms of the actor. The seventeen year old pooch is deeply missed. The star credited his pet for providing support during the tough times in his career and also while he struggled to battle his addiction problems.
