The boxer turned actor, Mickey Rourke, is not exactly at the zenith of his career. And instead of flying high and taking a financial plunge, he decided to downsize according to his finances. Doing away with his lavish, 5,000 square-foot home, he has taken up an apartment in Manhattan. It is reported that the actor would be paying $13,500 a month which is $6,300 cheaper than his former home.
Location: The apartment is located in West Village which is part of the New York borough, Manhattan.
Accommodation: The new apartment is slightly larger than 2,500 square feet but it is well designed and furnished. It has three bedrooms and an equal number of attached bathrooms. The house will definitely provide sufficient living space for the actor and his little chihuahuas.
Features: The house by itself may not be very large but it is located in the much sought-after West Village. The living room is large and has a wonderful fireplace. Overall, the house is definitely homely. There is also a little garden just outside the house which provides space for an outdoor sit-out and eat-out for 4 people. The kitchen is extremely modest by celebrity-standards but it is extremely functional too.
Neighborhood: The West Village neighborhood is plush and highly sought by celebrities galore. Some of the notable residents include Jenifer Aniston, Daniel Radcliffe, Graydon Carter, Liv Tyler and Julianne Moore.

Mickey Rourke cooled off in the summer of 2007, dipping and soaking the sun with a mystery lady in black bikini at Dubrovnik in Croatia. He was totally relaxed in the waters, playing and splashing with the lady before lounging in the hotel. Croatia has slowly but surely become a celebrity vacationing hot-spot.
Location: The beautiful and small nation of Croatia is located along the hinterland and shores of the Adriatic Sea. This rapidly developing economy is located on the other side of the Adriatic Sea from Italy.
Accommodation: Croatia is slowly blossoming as a tourist haven. Dubrovnik, in particular, where the actor spent happy days offers apartments, hotels and villas for accommodation. Hotel Imperial, Hotel Ariston, Hotel Neptun Dubrovnik and Hotel Excelsior are some excellent lodging options here.
Main Attractions: With a long and highly indented coastline, Croatia boasts of amazingly beautiful shores and beaches. Its towns and cities also possess a rich history. For instance, there is the medieval city of Zagreb with Gornji Grad as its core. At the 2,000-year old town, Porec, in Istria is the Euphrasian Basilica of the 6th century carrying excellent samples of Byzantine architecture. The amphitheater at Pula and Diocletian's Palace at Split are other historical attractions. Beauty-wise, the island of Korcula and Hvar, the town of Rovinj and the lakes of Plitvice are must-visit places. The lakes of Plitvice offer a great variety of flora and fauna apart from their multi-colored waters. The whole region has been declared as a National Park. Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic, has a medieval walled city and abounds with spectacular monasteries, churches, museums and fountains.

There are many who have large wallets and many who have large hearts. But only a few possess both and Mickey Rourke is definitely one of them! It was while shooting his Dead in Tombstone in Romania that he came to know of the plight of the huge population of Romanian strays. Instantly he decided on building a dog-shelter, the size of a football field needing at least € 1.5 million. And he contributed the first $250,000 himself! The dogs of Bucharest have Foxy, the stray, to thank for it wandered into the movie sets triggering the sympathy and action from the actor. He has already inducted vets, Simon Corneleu and Mircea Zeta into the team and plans to visit Romania regularly to oversee the project.
American actor Mickey Rourke's beloved and faithful canine companion, a Chihuahua named Loki spent her final moments in the arms of the actor. The seventeen year old pooch is deeply missed. The star credited his pet for providing support during the tough times in his career and also while he struggled to battle his addiction problems.
