Miro painting ‘Blue Star’ sells for record price at Paris auction

A 1927 painting Blue Star by the renowned Spanish artist Joan Miro has been sold for a record 11.6 million Euros (US $16.7 million) in Paris. It’s the highest price ever paid for Miro’s works as stated by the auctioneers, Drouot. In fact, this painting was considered by Miro himself as the key work of his output. The sale was part of an auction of ten works, including pieces by Picasso, Juan Gris, Leger, and Laurens which sold for a total of 21.8 million Euros.Another work by Miro dubbed ‘Bird’ fetched 6.2 million Euros.
