Using clues from the Dutch Art movement, Australian superyacht designer Misha Merzliakov has come up with his creation, called the ‘Eva’ yacht. Though it’s currently at a concept stage, experts from the industry believe that, converting the idea into reality will make Eva the largest superyacht catamaran in world. Such has been the fanfare behind the design that the designer has been amongst the finalists of the Young Designer of the Year Awards 2011, which includes famous designers from around the world judging the various designs.

Looking at the body of the 52-meter catamaran superyacht, one can easily feel that the young designer is looking to blend the interior and exterior environment of the yacht. The extensive use of glass, such as in the ceiling high window panels, not only allows passengers to view the outside, but also brings them closer to natural experience, while being inside a secured vessel. Benefits such as insulation and temperature control are other additional benefits. The interiors in terms of settings carry a somewhat ‘earthy’ feel as well. Whether it’s the sunken playpen located in the main saloon, or the day bed in the bedrooms, one gets an obvious affinity of the designer to nature, and experiences drawn from it. This is perhaps the reason why, the vessel carries a lot of space horizontally in terms of width and length instead of height alone.

In terms of amenities, there is plenty to enjoy in terms of the sun bathing area and swimming pool located at lower deck. One would notice a slightly different location of the swimming pool, which otherwise is traditionally seen located a lower height in yachts. It is also the same floor, which all the guest accommodations will be situated along with the saloon area and cinema theater alongside. The large square edged columns are eye-catching too. On the upper deck, the owners 100 sq meter master suite will be placed, which will also have a 67 sq meter private space outside the suite. There will also be another private lounge, along with a games room, and a children’s playroom with the master suite. For those in love with adventure water sports, there is space on the bow area for the vessels own tender boat, and space for an Audi Q7.

We do not know who won the most prestigious award this year, but this design concept has allowed the young Australian designer to get exposure into the real-time workings of the industry. From what the judges felt, this yacht will sure be the one to watch out for in the future.
