After the Swiss luxury watchmaker RJ-Romain Jerome pays tribute to the colossal neoclassical sculpture that symbolizes the freedom of America and is the iconic symbol of human rights, The Statue of Liberty, on the occasion of its 125th anniversary with its
Similar to the tablet held by The Statue of Liberty evoking the law upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776, every writing instrument of this exclusive special edition also holds the date “July 4, 1776” in raised Roman numerals. Historically, the Statue of Liberty designed by Frédéric Bartholdi was dedicated on October 1986, precisely 110 years as a gift from France celebrating the centenary of the historic Declaration of Independence of the United States.
Towering on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, Miss Liberty is deemed as an iconic embodiment of the ’American Dream’ and a messenger for independence and freedom. The designer Frédéric Bartholdi actually wanted this exceptionally sized work of art to send a message not only with its sheer size but also by the details he thought of. Now, those fine details thought by Frédéric Bartholdi, characterizes the extraordinary design of this Mont Blanc’s limited edition writing instrument.
The clip with its bordered citrine is reminiscent of the torch of the Statue of Liberty that also beautifully adorns the 18K gold rhodium-plated nib as a fine engraving. Further, the cap top made of 750 white gold is a stylized version of the seven-pointed crown of Miss Liberty, which its creator Frédéric intends to symbolize the Sun, the seven continents, and the seven seas, for the message of freedom Lady Liberty should to the entire world.
At an impressive price tag of $33,143, the Montblanc Statue of Liberty Special Edition pen will be available starting 4th July in a limited edition of 50 pieces worldwide.
Apart from Liberty special edition paying tribute to Lady Liberty, Montblanc also paid tribute to the Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, with its two Artisan Edition Pablo Picasso limited edition writing instruments. Featuring an 18-carat gold rhodium-plated nib carved with Picasso’s famous ‘Ojo’ drawing, the limited edition 91 has been cast in 750 solid gold. The $33,800 pen also sports a barrel with lacquered red bands that is reminiscent of Pablo Picasso’s Spanish origins.
And, honoring Picasso’s muse, Sylvette David, on whom the painter created 39 paintings, the second more precious fountain pen, the Artisan Edition Pablo Picasso limited edition 39, comes with a cap made of 750 solid white gold and diamond. Limited to just 39 pieces, the pen comes at a price of $55,000.
Both of the pens can be purchased from Montblanc boutique stores as of September 2012.
