Mouawad unveils diamond necklace with world’s largest flawless diamond
Mouawad’s relationship with making the best of jewelry, and using the rarest materials with each of its creation has been documented well before. The easiest claim-to-fame products from the Qatari International jewelry include the world’s most expensive handbag, which had more diamonds that one may care to count, and thus sported a glitzy $3.8 million price tag. Also, last year they unveiled Show White diamond ladies watch along with Miss Universe Natalie Glebova, which displayed their love for diamonds. Now, they have unveiled the world’s largest internally flawless diamond at Doha Jewelry and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), a part of the necklace called L’Incomparable, meaning ‘the Incomparable’. Certified by the Gemological Institute of America, the amber shaded giant diamond is known to be weighing around 407.48 carats.

When we had seen the Shawish 15-carat diamond ring, we were taken aback at the refinement and weightage of these precious gem stones. But with this particular diamond, Mouawas takes jewelry to a whole new level of elite designing and value. What also makes it precious is the history, which goes back to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the 1980’s, when a poor girl had found it in a pile of Kimberlite. At first the unpolished mass was thought to be useless for precious stones, but finally this gem came to light, and in 1984, came up for public display. It toured the world for being on display at various museums for its sheer brilliance. Hopefully this time, the diamond is put on display with the right accompaniment of a brilliantly crafted 18K rose gold necklace, which also sports numerous cut diamonds along the neckline.

With the diamond, Mouawad also launched its own set of luxury watches, named Grande Ellipse for men, and La Griffe quartz watches for women. Like the jewelry, these watches also live up to the repute of the brand for crafting excellence as their origin has been from the home for horology, Switzerland. The Grande Ellipse series includes 12 models to choose from which include a many combinations of designing fabrications, which include formal diamond studded watches to the more sophisticated rose gold timepieces.

There are even some sport models which are made of rose gold and titanium. The La Griffe collection on the other hand, are meant for wealthy ladies who have a taste for colourful mother-of-pearl dials, Super-Luminova indices, polished dome-shaped hands and Mouawad engraved case-back and buckle. Both the series would be retailing at Mouawad boutiques, for prices between $3,900 and $49,000 a piece.
