Ozzy’s Garage Sale Fetches $800,000 For Sharon’s Cancer Program
Ozzy Osbourne is one of those few Heavy Metal stars who defy the laws of Pop. He ranks amongst the most popular stars of Heavy Metal. It was quite predictable that Ozzy’s garage sale attracted people from various parts of the world. Darren Julien, owner of company Julien’s Auctions, who ran the charity sale this Friday and Saturday said that they had Ozzy fans bidding against some sophisticated fine art buyers, which was quite uncommon.
Julien also said that metalheads outbid the art crowd during the sale for most of the time and that items featured on Osbourne’s hit MTV show were the most popular. Coat studded with Bats fetched $3,300, skull sneakers were sold for $2,625 and pair of round glasses brought in $5,250. Even Ozzy’s oversized coffee cup fetched $1,625. A dog bed gifted to Sharon by Elton John went out for $2,375.
Fine art buyers were more interested in items like sculpture by French artist Edouard Drouot ($10,500) and a painting by Gabriel Joseph Marie Augustin Ferrier ($5,312). Though, as per Julien, Ozzy wasn’t willing to sell his pool table but it was sold for $11,250.
All in all, this auction fetched $800,000 and all earning will go to Sharon’s Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Julien said,
“For a celebrity garage sale, it was pretty spectacular.”
