The Porsche 997 is the proficient internal designation of the hugely successful Porsche 911 series. The 911 series was first introduced in the year 2004. The Stuttgart, Germany assembly plant of Porsche rolls out the car. In 2009, Porsche made some profound changes in 997 lineup, such as increment of engine displacement, adoption of direct injection system, adding the dual clutch system and some styling changes. The key objective behind all these changes, were to make the car lighter, faster and more fuel efficient. The efforts by the company were paid off and the particular model became most successful in the 911 series. The 997 model was brought in 2005. Just within two years from the point of introduction, a record 100,000 units of Porsche 997 were sold worldwide. It’s basically a sports car from the German automaker and was able to get overwhelming praises from the automobile critics at international level.

Earlier, a lot of design changes were done in the interior of the car, to totally re-invent it from the earlier models. The seats are specially crafted for ultimate comfort and to securely hold the occupants. The ‘Communication Management System’ fitted inside the car is a very special internal feature. Mobile phone Bluetooth connectivity feature is also there.


In GT3 they have used the Porsche Ceramic Composite braking system, which is tested and trusted to perform in the harshest of conditions and to ensure safety. Traction Control system is another safety feature of the car. Porsche Stability Management system ensures easy handling of the car. The overall aim of the research and development process was to come up with a light weight, compact yet high performance car. It combines so many luxury features in a compact car that perform well on tough road conditions. The car has some cool multimedia features too.

The layout of the car is rear engine and rear wheel drive/all wheel drive. There are two body styles available for the car, coupe and convertible, both having two doors. The Carrera S Coupe and Carrera designs were introduced by Porsche in the very beginning and in later stages (around November 2005), Carrera 4S and Carrera 4 was launched with all wheel drive system. When compared with the predecessor models, a lot of styling changes are found in 997. Especially in Carrera 4S and Carrera, the design work is found to be completely re-invented. One of the most evident design changes in the exterior was the comeback of signature Porsche circular head lamp.
