Ralph Lauren’s Handbag Auction for breast cancer

International Breast cancer month (October) has just passed and like the previous years, many organizations, brands and philanthropist have contributed their share to the society for this noble cause. One such rich and generous person is Ralph Lauren who recently organized second exclusive auction to benefit Friends of Cancer Patients’ (FOCP) Pink Caravan Initiative in his store in Dubai Mall.

The designer launched his Pink Pony range where every item sold 30% of proceeds goes towards breast cancer. Along with many items, Ralph Lauren created signature Ricky Bag that was included in the auction list. The bag is hand crafted in Italy from burnished calfskin leather. No. 25 bag was in the auction as only 56 pieces were made worldwide. 100% of the proceeds from the bag will go for the noble cause.

Further, 10% of the proceeds from the products sold under Pink Pony range by 2012 April will be donated FOCP. This donation is a part of initiative that Ralph Lauren has taken to fight against cancer, which aims to reduce disparities in cancer care in medically underserved communities.

President and founding member of FOCP Ameera Bin Karam commented “The FOCP has been fortunate to receive unconditional and unwavering royal support. In addition, the assistance from Ralph Lauren has been exceptional. This level of encouragement is what motivates us to continue this campaign in an effort to raise awareness and save lives.”

The bag was bought by Her Highness Sheikha Madiya for $13,613 which will be donated for the cause. Sheikha joined who Pink Caravan’s inaugural journey in April this year.
