Rapha and Giro creates the world’s finest road cycling shoes
Stamina, strength, focus and fortitude, is what all one requires for cycle racing, but a proper cycling shoe in your foot can be of added advantage to make a big on-road performance difference. Bike clothing brand Rapha in partnership with Giro are stepping into the cycling shoe market with their Grand Tour Shoes, designed without compromise for the discerning cyclists. Described as the world’s finest road cycling shoes, Rapha Grand Tour has been developed to offer a traditional feel but with the ultra-modern and cutting-edge cycling performance required for long road rides and optimum power transfer.
Shoes are built for racing and training use in all kinds of weather conditions. Each of the Grand Tour Shoes pair is hand-crafted from highly durable Yak leather, which is specially developed by Ecco, a respected footwear specialist. Taking advantage of Yak leather’s super breathability, suppleness of the material and its super tensile natural strength, it’s been for the first time that Yak leather has been used for road cycling shoes. Apart from having water and stain repellency treatment, the uppers are also perforated for additional texture and moisture movement.
In addition to this in credibly soft and comfortable uppers, the Rapha Gran Tour Shoes features Giro’s SuperNatural Fit foot-beds enhanced with the exclusive blend of EVA and cork to comfortably support the riders foot.
Further, Giro has used its Easton EC90 SLX high-modulus carbon fiber outsole that delivers maximum of power transfer with minimal weight. The EC90, only 6.5mm thick has proven over many thousands of miles on the Giro Factor and ProLight SLX models.
Designed to offer supreme stiffness along with excellent pedal connection, The Gran Tour Shoes are also compatible with all major cleat systems including Shimano, Time, Speedplay and Look.
Priced at $450, Grand Tour Shoes are available in black or white with a contrast lower strap, boasting the toe straps of the road cycling’s golden era. The shoe boasts a reflective Rapha logo on the heels, and includes a machined aluminum buckle with titanium D rings and padded leather straps.
