An American pop vocalist and dancer, Rebecca Black started her engagement with music at the age of 7, although she already started getting dancing lessons at 3. An honor student now, Rebecca has studied dance, indulged in many school shows and music camps. She began singing publicly in 2008 after joining Celebration USA. She got to fame with a twist in 2011 through ‘Friday’ (single). Her fame is attributed to the simple and (rather) silly lyrics of the song which received an overwhelming 62 million hits on YouTube. She has been the ‘Choice Web Star’ at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards.

The ‘Friday’ hit had given Rebecca Black an estimated net worth of approximately $1.2 million dollars. The music stardom of this young singer seems unconventional. She got her big break with efforts from her mother’s end in making a video with the recording house ( Ark Records). According to Forbes, Black’s estimated 30 million-and-growing hits have given her some $20,000 arising out of the YouTube Partner Agreement.

Rebecca features in the NOH8 Campaign, a protest (photo) project. She has pledged to donate profits from the sales of her song "Friday" to her school. She intends to donate considerably part of her profits from the sales on iTunes. The proceeds are supposed to go to school arts programs and relief efforts in Japan. She has her new single, My Moment, wherein she adorns a denim jacket on a black background. Her love for designer shoes was revealed at Fred Segal (Los Angeles). In 2006, her family purchased a home in the southern California city of Anaheim Hills (Orange County). Built in 1978, the 2,066 square foot home is a combination of comfort and style.

Rebecca received dancing, piano and vocal lessons when she was quite young. She also underwent Musical Theater Camps. Musicals like Oklahoma and Best of Broadway Goes Pop have had her in lead roles. Her first song (Friday) was supposed to be a family affair, although it was uploaded on You Tube and went viral. Her overnight recognition lead to her being booked for a radio show; she even had been a guest to Jay Leno. She plans to record an acoustic version of her song ‘Friday’ without vocal intrusion (processing) to showcase her natural voice. She is a Justin Bieber fan and wishes to work with him.
