Roberto Cavalli, the Italian fashion designer from Florence is well-known for his daringly detailed exotic designs - be it in his clothes, his celebrated lifestyle or even his house! His recent construction - a home in the hills of Florence, Italy is a magnificent and magical mansion to say the least. It stands out distinctly because of the multiple hues with which it has been constituted - perfectly in sync with the changing moods of Mr.Cavalli, for whom life and business are constant dares. The 'Rainbow residence' as it has been called is sure to inspire and influence his future fashion designs.
Location: The designer’s new domicile has been built on his 32-acre estate in the Florentine countryside in Italy.
Features: The mansion has been built around a 13th century tower in 32 acres of sprawling grounds. The hilltop estate is home to a wide variety of ancient art, a menagerie of animal and bird pets and the designer's fabrics.
The elaborate gardens surrounding the home are a sight for the gods to see and a vineyard is also part of the same gardens. The 'garage' is large and elaborate. Naturally so as it has to accommodate a helicopter, several Ferraris and a Ducati superbike.
The house has been built for luxury with a metallic facade that evokes the feel of plant ivy. The decorative elements of the home seem to be lost in conversation with the functional ones. Light entering the home is electronically modulated. Metal and glass have been blended in great harmony to make everything in the house. A large, well-equipped, modern kitchen graces the house where Cavalli's elaborate kitchen staff can cook up mouth-watering cuisines. A wine cellar well stocked with the best brands is attached to the house too.

Roberto Cavalli Yacht
Roberto Cavalli owns a luxury yacht valued at $40 million. The designer usually uses the boat to spend his summer vacations along with his family in exotic holiday destinations like Cannes, Monaco and Portofino. Roberto has been photographed several times by the paparazzi relaxing on the deck of the yacht and tanning his body while sipping a beer along with his girlfriend.
The yacht, which was acquired in year 2005 has been the venue for several high profile parties hosted by the iconic designer that have featured A-list celebrities Hollywood of the likes of Sharon Stone, Victoria Beckham, Charlize Theron and Mariah Carey as guests. Cavalli has also lent the luxury boat to his close friends like Jennifer Lopez in order to host their private parties. The exterior of the 133 foot long yacht sports a bright multicolored look. A four member crew operates the yacht which is capable of accommodating eight passengers.
The interiors have been designed by Roberto himself and extensively bear a stamp of his personal tastes and fun loving personality. The deck possesses a Jacuzzi along with a massive dining table and has been extensively lined with expensive teak wood. The bar is well stocked with a collection of some of the most expensive wines in the world. The spacious interiors have been lavishly furnished with expensive modern furniture and protected from extreme weather conditions by a powerful centralized air conditioning system.
The yacht has been designed and built by Italian luxury boat maker Baglietto and is powered by a twin ample MTU main engine that delivers an output of 7400HP. The recommended cruising rate is 29 knots and a top speed of 35 knots can be achieved. A maximum of 1000 nautical miles can be travelled without refueling.

Aerospatiale AS 350 Helicopter
An ardent admirer of the flying machines, the designer Roberto Cavalli simply cannot stop getting aboard his 'sixth child', the Aerospatiale AS 350 Helicopter. The moment Robert Cavalli first saw this helicopter during its launch at an aero-show in Italy, he fell in love with it and instantly decided to purchase it for a reported price of $500,000. Cavalli learnt to operate the chopper after attending an eighteen month long flying course and since then has mostly flown it himself. The chopper is usually stationed in Roberto’s home town in Florence, and is the designer’s preferred mode of transport to attend business meetings in Milan and Paris. These days it’s mostly flown on joyrides since Cavalli has drastically cut down on his business trips.
The helicopter is powered by a Turbomeca Arriel 2B turbo shaft engine that delivers 632KW of power. Maximum speed possible is 287 km/hour but the recommended cruising speed is 259 km/hour. The aircraft can travel up to 650km without refueling. The flight controls are pretty easy to operate and the body has been built using a mixture of carbon composites along with fiberglass. The spacious interiors can accommodate six passengers and the bucket seats have been upholstered in expensive leather.
1991 Ferrari Testarossa
"Defiant and daring" would be the two words to describe designer Roberto Cavalli and his steed - the Ferrari Testarossa too. The fantastic car was custom created to rival and beat the Lamborghini supercar - Countach. Its 5L engine is able to provide a powerful thrust of 380 hp expressed via a 354 lb-ft torque. The revving engine races the car to 100 km/h under 5.5 seconds and it hits a top speed of nearly 300 km/h. The 2-seater is built for performance and speed with only functional interiors. Maintenance is also very expensive and 20 liters of fuel it consumes for 100 kms does not augur good. Not that Cavalli is complaining!
After a three year long courtship, the renowned Italian fashion designer known for detailed exotic prints Roberto Cavalli tied the knot with former beauty queen and his business partner Eva Duringer back in 1980. The fashion designer first met his future wife while judging the 1977 Miss Universe beauty pageant, an event where Eva was crowned as the runner up. Interestingly, this was Cavalli’s second shot at matrimony after his ten year long marriage to childhood sweetheart Silvanella Giannoni broke down owing to the pulls and pressures generated due to the designer’s high profile lifestyle.
Roberto’s second marriage has produced three children and Eva has always maintained a very low public profile despite being under constant media scrutiny in the glamour industry. However gossip has been floating around since 2011 that Cavalli and his wife have separated since the designer has been living away from his wife in one of his guest cottages in his Florence mansion. Eva is still residing in the couple’s previous home. The couple has not yet confirmed media rumors that their 33 year old marriage has all but collapsed even though they stay very near to each other. Constant speculation about Roberto’s philandering ways could have been an important reason behind the couple’s rumored split.
Its a menagerie at home for Roberto Cavalli. According to his own revelations, he is greeted by the excited and happy squawking of parrots as soon as he gets home and prominent among them is a big red one. But the most excited among all seems to be his Macaque monkey which often runs around the room in repeated circles. Doing the same at his feet is Pussy, his pet cat for years. His favorite though seems to be Lupo, the German Shepard dog which accompanies him even on vacations and cruises. The saying about a dog being a man's best friend definitely holds true for Mr.Cavalli.
