Arcade game Pac-Man; the name certainly recalls our video-game addicted childhood or youth, when we use to spend our fortune ‘pocket-money’ on the games, in an effort to be the top scorer. Immensely popular from its original release to the present day, arcade game Pac-Man is considered to be one of the classics of the video games, that went on to become an icon of video game culture during the 1980s, resulting in Pac-Man Fever. Now, the Swiss luxury watchmaker RJ-Romain-Jerome which earlier brought the classic arcade video game Space Invader alive in our memories through its limited edition wristwatch with Space Invader design, is once again taking us on a crazy round of video games with a limited series of 80 watches designed after the cult Pac-Man. Historically, Pac-Man followed the huge success of Space Invaders by touching an even larger audience and which for the first time featured women.
RJ-Romain-Jerome in association with Namco Bandai Games Inc. the developer of Pac-Man, is bringing the famous yellow video-game character back to life with its four series of 20 geek chic timepieces, paying tribute to this generational flagship 1980s icon.
The 46mm wide Pac-Man watches features steel fused with fragments of Apollo 11, and its four ball-and-socket joints at the case corners are functional and designed like the legs of the American lunar landing module. And, the back of the watch boasts a disc made of Moon SilverRJ, which is a low oxidation silver fused with moon rocks.
Further, each of the 2-dials comes engraved with a pixilated matrix, while the characters and fruits adoring the dial stem comes from meticulous craftsmanship. And, the game play from Pac-Man has been displayed on four dial choices, while each has Pac-Man and the ghosts in living color.
RJ-Romain-Jerome Pac-Man watches will be exclusively available at Colette, in Paris from 3 to 8 September, with a price tag of $17,800. Buyers can also opt for two versions with cherries on the dial as well.
Also, we have earlier seen the Liberty enlightening RJ-Romain Jerome watch which celebrates the Declaration of Independence, the Romain Jerome's Moon Dust Red Mood Chrono watches which inherits the celestial collection, and the Titanic-inspired watches.
