Voxativ, a Berlin speaker manufacturer, has teamed up with the most coveted German piano manufacturer, Schimmel Pianos, to design their latest full-range loudspeakers called Ampeggio. The floor-standing speakers merge the traditional horn shape with the rectangular-shaped front in the enclosure. The cabinet surface is covered in real piano lacquer, i.e. 1mm deep polyurethane paint polished about 10 times. And, all the resonant issues are taken care of by Schimmel Pianos, which accounts for its superior scale and tone. They have used very special tone wood for the back-loaded horn cabinet that uses no circular arcs but faceted turns to have optimal amplification while eliminating unwanted reflections and resonances. The speakers are powered by Voxativ’s biggest neodymium driver AC-3X with leather surrounds. The sound is optimized purely by the mechanical excellence of the driver and cabinet. The Voxativ by Schimmel Piano logo is made from brass and integrated into the paint and the speakers feature an efficiency of 98dB with 50 watts of power and a frequency response of 38 – 20,000 Hz. The price is approx. $18,880 per pair exclusive of VAT and delivery.
