Stephen Ray Perry commonly known as Steve Perry was born on 22nd January 1949 in Hanford, California and is a legendary American singer, songwriter widely popular as the lead singer of the commercially popular rock band ‘Journey’. Steve’s musical genius played a significant role in the band’s soaring popularity from 1977 to the late eighties and well into the early 90’s. Steve Perry’s Portuguese background played a major role in his series perusal for music and kept the flame burning in his initial struggle period. Steve Perry has had an equally rousing solo career with most of his individual albums scaling gold or platinum status with cart topping singles.   Steve Perry’s tryst with his musical destiny began when he fronted the band Alien Project and an impressive demo made him the replacement for the struggling band Journey’s lead singer. Perry’s inclusion as a lead singer brought around a massive change to the band’s vocals and sound making the band an overnight success. Steve Perry provided leading vocals to 9 of the band’s most popular albums including the hit singles ‘Escapee’ and ‘Open Arms’ which played at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for over six weeks. Much was the genius of Steve Perry that he not only became the leading voice of the band but also it’s most prominent and popular face. After being with the band for a number of years Perry focused on his solo career releasing his fist album titled ‘Street Talk’ which included the immensely popular song ‘Oh Sherrie’ written for his then-girlfriend Sherrie Swafford. Perry planned a reunion with the band Journey is 1994 but a hip problem made him shelve his plans.   Rising from his humble background with sheer dedication and devotion to his art and love for music has made Steve Perry’s estimated net worth to reach $115 million USD. Apart from his lead vocalist days with the band ‘Journey’ Steve’s solo hits have contributed immensely to his popularity and wealth. Steve Perry currently resides in Del Mar, California has more recently been keeping a low profile and enjoying his semi retirement days with an occasional public appearance like being the special guest of the Chicago White Sox after they adopted Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" as their rally song. Although Steve Perry’s famous lines ‘never say never’ keeps the rumour floating of reunion with Journey once again, in a recent interview Perry quashed those rumours and is planning to release his fist solo project since 1994.   After all these years of making brilliant music that brought him acclaimed fame and stardom and an immense fan following, Steve Perry is still single and has no children. Oh Sherrie remains his biggest solo hit, written by Perry for his then girlfriend Sherrie Swafford but the relationship didn’t bloom as anticipated. In one his recent interviews Perry had said that he wasn’t unhappy being single as he can devote time to his first love, music.
