Subaru Impreza WR1

Subaru Impreza WR1

Subaru Impreza WR1 is the limited edition of the fastest and most powerful Impreza produced ever, the Subaru Impreza STi. Only 500 of the WR1s will be ever seen on the roads. The special limited edition was released to celebrate Peter Solberg winning the Driver's Title in the World Rally Championship in 2003 on the Impreza STi. The limited edition was announced in the January, 2004 'Autosport' show after getting the engineering approval from Subaru UK. The limited edition comes with an upgrade to the 320 PS engine and lot of technical and visual upgrades. The WR1 costs £29,995 on-the-road.

The interior of the WR1 comes with the anthracite seats replacing the blue suede-effect seats common in the normal versions of the Impreza. The limited edition has a new metal gear knob and carpet maps which are specially imaged for a posh look. The tax disc holder of the WR1 is also embossed with a unique special edition number allotted for the car. Specially aimed at driving enthusiasts the WR1 has a unique driver’s control centre-differential (DCCD) which can be accessed through a switch placed nearer the parking brake. DDCD enables the driver to manually select the torque distribution between the front and rear wheels during extreme conditions like sharper cornering turn-ins. DCCD goes to the automatic mode when ever the car starts. The special edition is fitted with upgraded springs developed by Prodrive and bump-stops with a 25 ride height in order to enhance the ride quality.

The exterior of the WR1 makes the super car instantly recognisable on the road with its stainless mesh grille and driving lamps. The limited edition WR1 is available in a new Ice Blue Metallic paint which makes it a head turner. Other exterior enhancements for WR1 include the Prodrive Flow Forming (P-FF7) seven-spoke alloy wheels which have an 18 inch diameter and the latest Pirelli PZero tyres (225/45) which improves the handling quality of the car by reducing the ground clearance by 25mm.
