The ‘first ever’ motorcycle sells at Bonhams

This 1894 Hildebrand & Wolfmüller motorcycle is the last thing bike connoisseurs and enthusiasts would love to lay their hands on. As Bonhams auctioned this first-ever patented “motorrad,” we are sure it gave goose bumps to all those who cherish the ultimate automotive designs and engineering masterpieces. This essential piece of motorcycle history was manufactured in Munich by H&W and was the first powered two-wheeler to ever enter series production. Patented in January 1894, H&W’s motorcycle was estimated to fetch an estimated at $60,000-90,000 but this exceptional machine was sold for $132,000.
