L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon

Watch manufacturers are known for taking their design inspiration from luxury autos. We have earlier told you about Ralph Lauren’s “RL Sporting Watch” inspired by his vintage car, besides the line of Chopard watches for Alfa Romeo. The latest in the world of limited edition timepieces inspired from classic cars is Chopard’s ‘Engine One’ for Only One charity watch auction. The one-off timepiece is designed to look like an engine block.

The watch features an oval-shaped case made from ultra-light titanium, and powered by an exceptional proprietary mechanical hand-wound tourbillon movement “motor” L.U.C Calibre 1TRM. The autos-inspired wristwatch is designed to function in the same way as a car engine, with the movement mounted on silent blocks that absorb shocks and held by three lever arms inserted into the case middle. Every detail is designed to imbue the luxury autos feel including the curved lugs screwed onto the case that looks like car wings, four reinforced inserts enhance its dynamic design. The watch features 28,800 vibrations per hour and boasts a 60-hour power reserve, and is strapped on a hand-sewn black alligator leather strap. The side of the case is engraved with the “Only Watch 2011” mention.
