Top Earning Artist of 2012- Women Top the List
In a recently published list of highest paid celebrities by Forbes magazine, Taylor Swift has managed to rise to the pinnacle. She has managed to become the highest paid celebrity under the age of 30. Taylor Swift made around $57 million in earnings in 2012. Her successes and riches can be attributed to extreme success of her various albums. With her earnings, Taylor Swift has been able to overshadow Justin Bieber who amongst the male singers was able to make around $ 55 million during the same period. Interestingly, three of the other top five slots were also taken by female singers only. Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Katy Pary were able to claim third, fourth and fifth position in that order. Rihanna who was able to claim the third spot in the list earned around $53 million. Rihanna made this amount on account of her promotional tour that she made for her hit album Talk That Talk. Majority of this sum came from promotion of Nivea lotion and Vita Coco coconut water. Lady Gaga could manage to come up to the fourth spot, a ranking lower than her last appearance on the list. She was able to earn around $52 million in 2012. Lack of touring is being attributed as the reason for Lady Gaga not being able to make it to top three in the list. However, her album Born This Way is still ringing the cash bells for Lady Gaga, helping her make a substantial part of this income. California Dream tour helped Katy Perry earn an estimated amount of $45 million, helping her achieve the fifth spot in the of highest paid celebrities list by Forbes magazine. Her hit album, Teenage Dream is still helping the star make a lot of cash. The list reportedly has been compiled by Forbes magazine by taking into consideration movie earnings, box office profits, concert and album sales along with various advertisements and endorsements that also form a part of the star’s earnings. Adele, the British star whose album is still a part of Billboard top ten is at number six. The star has been able to make $35 million in 2012. Around 23 million copies of her hit album 21 have been already sold with songs as Someone Like You and Rolling in the Deep making waves with music lovers all over the world.
