The Tudor Pelagos watches for scuba divers and other lovers of the deep sea
Little brother to Rolex; Tudor, was started back in 1946 by Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf, and was named in honor of Britain’s House of Tudor. As an icon of retro chick style, watch brand Tudor has been widely known for making stylish watches of a more technical design, inspired by professions regarded as dangerous. Now, following its chosen path where style meets performance, Tudor this year has unveiled two major watches devoted to sea, which not just demonstrates the brand’s wealth of 60-years old heritage, but also its ability to delve into history and offer completely up-to-date products. One is the Heritage Black Bay model which pays tribute to the brand’s rich history with a fresh interpretation of 1950s standard that left a mark on the history of diver’s watches, and the second is the exclusively new, practical, highly legible and sturdy Tudor Pelagos model, which is waterproof to a depth of 500 meters, and actually fulfills the requirements of lovers of deep vital marine environment.
Described to be a diving tool par excellence, the Tudor Pelagos which is a fusion of technical mastery and mechanical reliability, actually invites to explore the silent world in a new dimension. Crafted entirely of titanium and completely satin-finished, giving a special rugged and sheen look, this deep-sea instrument is waterproof to a depth of 500 meters.
This superlative watch boasts a 42mm case which is equipped with a helium valve which is necessary to absorb unpredictable pressure variations, and has been marked ‘GAS ESCAPE VALVE’ on the side of the straight edged case.
And, the generous hour markers and luminescent ‘snowflake’ hands completely assures the perfect readability, even in extreme conditions.
Reliable and technically outstanding, the Pelagos model is further distinguished by its titanium bracelet with a folding steel clasp fitted with a unique ‘spring-loaded self-adjusting mechanism’ which Tudor has exclusively developed and patented.
Adjustable during diving, the bracelet keeps on contracting when the diving suit is compressed and its volume is reduced, as the diver gets deep in the silent waters, and, conversely, it expands during the divers’ ascent as the pressure eases.
Tudor’s Pelagos also comes on a rubber strap with a specially designed extension system which enables it to be worn easily over the diving suit.
