This has to be one of the most innovative concept cars ever. Recently at the Shanghai Auto Show, Geely, the Chinese manufacturer and owner of Volvo, exhibited the McCar, a unique hybrid car that comes with a folding three-wheeled electric in the rear. The ultra compact, two-door, four-seater Geely McCar makes sure that the electric scooter is being charged while docked in the rear of the car. This tiny urban car comes with a choice of battery or hybrid power.

The innovative 12kWh battery runabout has a range of 93 miles, a top speed of 52mph and takes six hours to recharge. For the 8kWh plug-in hybrid, the figures read 31 miles on electric power and 373 miles on petrol and battery, with a top speed of 80mph and a recharge time of two hours. On the other hand, the scooter is capable of doing 18mph and enjoys a range of 18 miles. After you have enjoyed your scooter ride, it needs a two-hour charge.

Another interesting feature of the Geely McCar is that you can even swap the three-wheeled scooter with a standard fold-up wheelchair. Geely has plans to mass produce electric and hybrid cars by the end of next year, so chances are good that the novel McCar might go into production.
