The Volkswagen Touareg W12 is a mid-sized vehicle considered to be in the crossover segment of SUV’s which first hit the international automobile market in 2005. Initially German automobile giant Volkswagen planned to market it as a limited edition SUV in Saudi Arabia and Europe with total factory production not exceeding 500 units. However, later the production restriction was lifted and the Touareg lost its special status. The Touareg has been named after the North African Tuareg tribe and is renowned for its dynamic performance allied with a sporty look along with an outstanding degree of passenger comfort. The W12 derives most of its design from the Touareg V10 class of vehicles. Basic models of the SUV cost around $50,000 and the price can shoot up to $75,000 for premium units equipped with all luxury fittings.

The Touareg W12’s interiors have been luxuriously stylized and bear the imprint of a very sporty design principle. The interiors bear a highly intensive aluminum “Micropoint” and leather trim level. The electronically adjustable power seats and the steering wheel have been lined with expensive nappa leather upholstery. The dashboard sports a glossy finish. The radio DVD navigation system comes with a multi-function color display. Plenty of user friendly equipment like a Climatronic dual zone air conditioner, power locks, electric rear window defroster, cruise control and a key less entry system has been installed inside the W12. The entertainment system comprising of a CD player, satellite radio. media device interface and a 8 speaker surround sound system is pretty good.

The Touareg W12 has been blessed with an extremely stylish exterior appearance. The imposing muscular look of the five door SUV is further enhanced by the presence of exterior fittings like four "Casablanca" 20 inch alloy wheels, a heavily chromed grille, widened wheel arches, a massive front color coded bumper assembly and two chromium plated dual exhaust tips. The W12’s roof has been given a coat of silver paint and all its windows are darkened to ensure total privacy for its occupants. The bi-xenon curved headlights come equipped with bending light functionality. There is also a power adjustable exterior mirror along with rain sensing windshield wipers. Available metallic color options include a variety of shades like canyon gray, cool silver, pure white, night blue, black uni and tungsten silver.
