Wiesmann Roadster MF3
The Wiesmann Roadster MF3 came into being 18 years ago when brothers Martin Wiesmann and Friedhelm Wiesmann founded the Wiesmann automobile company in Germany in 1985. The major appeal of the vehicles was the fact that each model was hand-built in Dülmen, Germany. The manufacturers claimed that their vehicles stuck to the road like “geckos to a wall” and used a gecko on the logo to highlight this quality. The company began by custom building hard-tops for other convertible models though they graduated into the roadster making business by 1993 with the Wiesmann Roadster MF3. The model uses transmission and engine components provided by BMW. Essentially a classic-looking sports car, the Wiesmann Roadster MF3 differs from the MF30 model only in its engine. The elegant packaging of the roadster has been known to be a purely driver’s car with its style, build and design supporting the performance of the vehicle.
The Wiesmann Roadster MF3 was powered by a BMW S54-sourced 3.2-liter 6-cylinder engine that had peak power output of 343 horsepower at 7,900 revs per minute and displaces a peak torque of 269 lb·ft at 4,900 revs per minute. The powertrain of the Wiesmann Roadster MF3 was offered with three transmission choices including a SMG II-derived 6-speed sequential transmission as well as a 5- or 6-speed manual transmission. The model returned a fuel economy of 17.8 liter per 100 km in city conditions, 8.4 –liter per 100 km in highway conditions and a combined fuel economy of 11.1-liter per 100 km. The model accelerated from 0-100 km/h in just 5 seconds and achieved a top speed of 255 km/h.
The interior of the Wiesmann Roadster MF3 was created to meet the level of imagination and personality displayed by its exterior. Representing the distinctive personality of its owners, the Wiesmann Roadster MF3 was offered in a choice of over 400 types of leather for the interior to make each car suited to individual owners’ needs. The handcrafted interior of Wiesmann Roadster MF3 comes laced with the finest quality materials and its highly customizable cabin also features bespoke lighting as requested by the buyer.
The perfect nostalgia vehicle and a purist sports car, the exterior styling of the MF3 Roadster takes drivers back to an era when the look of a car was as important as the performance it can deliver.
