To celebrate the upcoming royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, London is putting on its best face. Now, a Lancashire-based ice cream maker named Colin Bleasdale has planned to mark the Royal Wedding Day by making an ice cream, which could break the record for the world’s most expensive ice cream. Colin Bleasdale is set to make a floral bouquet style ice cream, and hopes it to make an entry into the Guinness Book of Records. Mr Bleasdale said…

The ice cream will resemble a wedding posy that will be covered in fake jewels made from jelly or melted toffee. Fifteen cones will be used to create the bouquet and each one will be covered with real gold leaves. I may also include a champagne sorbet and black truffles.

The current record for the world’s most expensive dessert is with the local restaurateur Serendipity of New York for making the $25,000 chocolate sundae, which comes complete with 24-carat edible Swiss gold and 23-carat edible gold leaf lining. Colin Bleasdale is now on the hunt for jewelers who could lend him a sapphire (Middleton’s engagement ring has a blue 18-carat sapphire) for Easter Sunday, April 24, the day when he is to set the new record.

His Royal Wedding ice cream will be auctioned at an event in Samlesbury Hall, with the proceeds benefiting farming charity with Royal patronage – The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI).
