World’s most expensive bottle of rum worth £26,000
Up for display at RumFest, Europe’s first rum festival in London, is a bottle of rum, which is believed to be the world’s most expensive. Made by Jamaican distillers Wray and Nephew, this bottle of rum is worth £26,000 (nearly US $53,285) and is one of only four unopened bottles in the world. It was made in 1940s using different blends, the oldest of which was about 25 years old. It indicates that some of the liquid dates back to around 1915.
The rum ran out of supplies after the Mai Tai cocktail came into existence in 1934. It was three years back when Wray and Nephew discovered the remains of a barrel containing 12 unmarked bottles of the unique rum.
