Zach Galifianakis

American actor Zach Galifianakis shot into international recognition with his award winning role as the lovable but annoying Alan Garner in The Hangover movie franchise. The comedian began his career doing the rounds of stand-up clubs in LA and appeared in several comedy shows. Zach landed a role on a show called “Dog Bites Man” in which he played Alan Finger.

Being catapulted into the spotlight after the first release of The Hangover, Galifianakis brought his particular brand of comedy to many other movies including the road trip comedy “Due Date” in which he co-starred with Robert Downey Jr. and “Dinner for Schmucks” which landed him a Best Comedy Actor in Film award at the Comedy Awards. Zach Galifianakis also starred in his own inline series "Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis" for which he received Best Actor Award at the 14th Annual Webby Awards.

Zach Galifianakis has an estimated net worth of around $15 million dollars, a chunk of which he has earned from his roles in the internationally successful “The Hangover” movies series. According to reports, Zach Galifianakis was paid a cool $5 million to reprise his role as Alan Garner in the second sequel of The Hangover.

Zach Galifianakis supports a number of charitable causes and is one of the celebrity ambassadors for the Stand Up To Cancer foundation. Galifianakis owns two homes in the United States which include a home in Los Angeles and a farm house in North Carolina. Galifianakis describes his farm as a “writer's retreat” and plans to use the property to open a music school for underprivileged kids.

Zach Galifianakis is of Scots-Irish descent from his mother’s side and of Greek ancestry from his father’s side. His paternal grandparents were first generation immigrants who emigrated from Crete, Greece. Zach has an older brother, Greg and a younger sister, Merritt. Zach Galifianakis was a communications major at the North Carolina State University though he did not graduate. On August 11, 2012, Galifianakis married longtime girlfriend Quinn Lundberg, who is the co-founder of a charity named Growing Voices, in Canada.
